About Me
About Me
My name is Amy Gillespie and I am thrilled be your child’s grade four teacher for this school year at A.B. Daley Community School. I would like to take a minute to introduce myself.
My parents moved our family to Nanton in 1992 to an acreage just south of town where my sister and I grew up. I attended A.B. Daley and J.T. Foster schools from grades 2 to 12.
I graduated from the University of Lethbridge in 2008 with a degree in Kinesiology and Education. In the past 10 years I have taught grades 1, 4, 5 and 6 in Iron Springs, Claresholm, Stavely and Nanton. In December 2014, my husband, 4 year old daughter and I moved back to the acreage I grew up on. I now have 2 daughters, who are 7 and 2. Nanton has always been home to me and I am so excited to once again be a part of the community and school that gave me so much care and support throughout my childhood.
I am really looking forward to teaching these amazing students this year. My door is always open, so please feel free to call, e-mail, text or come in and say hello or let me know of any concerns that you or your child are having. I enjoy having frequent conversations with the parents of my students. I want each student to have a fun and successful year in grade four and I am committed to doing whatever it takes to ensure this happens.

Sincerely,

Amy Gillespie

My Philosophy
I strive to create a safe and caring environment for all students in my classroom. We talk a lot about showing kindness and respect throughout the year, which I believe are very important life skills. I also teach teach a lot about Growth Mindset, which will help students overcome obstacles, do hard things and learn that it is okay to make mistakes and fail, which is how we grow!
